(I-Canada-News.Com, June 26, 2013 ) Ontario, Canada -- Tammy Babcock, the founder of Help Tammy Help Haiti charity, has recently announced great strides in the building of the Pivot Point Community Centre located in Haiti’s Cite Solei. The land has been cleared as well as paid for and she is in the process of raising funds for the building of the foundation.
Once completed, the Pivot Point Community Centre will house a covered basketball court, two large training rooms and two open-air meeting areas for people in the community to unite. The facility will eventually offer adult education classes, training for jobs, special needs programs and conflict resolution skills training.
In June of 2012, the medical clinic, built with generous donations to the Help Tammy Help Haiti fund, was completed. Although still waiting for doctors, the facility is currently the training ground for First Aid. Classes are also held at the clinic for expectant mothers in the form of infant and child care with a strong focus on proper hygiene.
Staffing the medical center is one of Tammy’s top priorities. She is approaching two organizations in this regard. One is Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH) Haiti, which is run by Father Richard Frechette. The other is the J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO), a charity organization founded by the actor, Sean Penn.
Similarly, Tammy is trying to raise funds for a man from Cite Soleil named Robinson. Robinson has been assisting international organizations in Haiti since he was eighteen. He needs six thousand dollars to attend dental school. He has plans to be the very first local dentist in Cite Soleil. Dental health professionals are a desperately needed service in the area, as very few international dentists will even visit the region.
