(I-Canada-News.Com, June 08, 2013 ) Calgary, Canada -- The market report company Plimsoll Publishing has recently released some rather sobering information regarding how the UK web industry is functioning in relation to large firms.
A press release that stemmed from Plimsoll stated a discovery of a “widening gap between firms making outstanding profits and those losing money”.
In the report, among the UK's top companies, spanning the 550 largest web design companies, the research stated the average profits have continued to fall to a worrisome 9.9% of sales. There were 218 companies that were found to be running at a loss overall.
According to Plimsoll, the finding noted that it would would “lead you to believe the industry was suffering with chronic oversupply, rising costs and severe pricing issues.” However, it was also reported in the study that there were 45 businesses were creating record profits.
Of the companies seeing increases, 26 stated they were considered debt-free overall, with a profit margin average of 24.65% In contrast, of the 218 companies experiencing loss, over half were what could be “considered to be a high financial risk”. A total of 93% reported it was the second year of loss-making they had experienced. The average company would admit to a 3% loss or more in sales.
“The latest Plimsoll analysis highlights that the industry is being split into two types of company and the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger and bigger,” claimed David Pattison, senior analyst at Plimsoll.
“For the companies that are falling behind, they need to re-evaluate their strategy and retain profit in order to improve their financial strength,” he added.
