(I-Canada-News.Com, May 29, 2013 ) Ottawa, Canada -- Pingdom, a website monitoring site, announced two weeks ago that it has released a new study that measures the growing popularity of onshore web hosting by scanning the top one million websites in the world and analyzing all websites carrying a country code top-level domain (such as .ca .de or .uk).
Pingdom conducted the study by using its own data that shows the locations where the top million sites in the world are hosted. The study found that countries such as Germany, Vietnam and South Korea were more comfortable and most likely to use onshore hosting for their website’s domain and use their own country code top-level domain (ccTLD). In total, the Pingdom study included 309,129 sites spread over 230 countries.
The study found that 97% of websites with South Korea’s ccTLD are located in South Korea. 93% of Vietnamese websites carried Vietnam’s ccTLD and 92% of German, websites used German’s ccTLD.
42% of the world’s top million websites from the United States. Additionally, the study found that 65 countries have none of their sites hosted in their respective country with their country’s ccTLD.
Just over 509,000 websites in Pingdom’s top one million use a .com domain. Another recent study by Pingdom released data that showed Houston, Texas alone hosts more than 50,000 of the world’s top one million websites.
