(I-Canada-News.Com, May 11, 2013 ) Toronto, Canada -- If there is one surprising number to take away from the general statistics on Mothers Day in the United States, it is that nearly a quarter of them will likely not receive a gift on the day. A 24-hour hour period designed to a person who almost invariably gives love 24-hours a day, 365 days per year, and there is a substantial number of moms who, for one reason or another, receive no gift of thanks.
The most recent survey by Child's Play Communications noted that votes for what moms would get for the year saw the usual wants from mothers. Of those who expected gifts, a car was the best gift was listed among those received in recent years, while divorce papers was clearly the worst (though one would hope said papers were not issued by a child for a myriad of reasons).
While many moms will unfortunately not receive more than 10 minutes to themselves for the date, the second largest thing the moms stated they would appreciate is, quite frankly, anything. Mothers connection to their family tends to never be material based, and so mothers tended to state that any gesture of love and affection was more than enough as far as they were considered.
That very sentiment is likely why it is so unfortunate to see that 23.6% of mothers are forgotten or left out on the celebration of Mothers Day.
According to the survey, it is not even difficult to make a mom feel special, because it is the showing of love and affection that tugs at their heartstrings which they love the most. Handmade gifts stood as what 14.6% of moms wanted, while 12.9% would love a good spa day. It is much more about the effort to show one cares than the actual attachment of value; however, buying mom a new car is not the worst idea in the world. If one just can't afford a good $17,000 or more vehicle, then maybe simply a quality electronic device like an iPad would do.
For those severely cash-strapped, remembering that spending mom-focused time with the person who is nearly wholly responsible for bringing one into this world is an acceptable form of gifting as well.
