Global Toronto Sponsors JAMBANA™ Festival Again

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 08, 2011 ) Toronto, Ontario -- The annual JAMBANA™ festival returns to Downsview Park, 35 Carl Hall Road in Toronto, on Monday August 1st, 2011, from 1pm to 9:30pm, and Global Toronto is back on board as Television Sponsor.

“We are thrilled to partner with JAMBANA™ again this year as the exclusive television sponsor of this exciting event celebrating the tastes and sounds of the Caribbean and beyond, right in our own backyard”. Jackie Moss, Brand Manager, Global Toronto.

Global Toronto, celebrates culture and diversity, complementing the existing JAMBANA™ infrastructure. Presented by Air Jamaica and Digicel and produced by Jones & Jones Productions Ltd., JAMBANA™ is the largest event over the long weekend outside of the annual parade.

“We are excited that Global Toronto is back on board this year. JAMBANA continues to display the vibrance of Canada’s cultural mosaic in its finest form, through music, dance, food, culture, history, information and edutainment. There is something for everyone at JAMBANA™, and we continue to raise the bar in 2011.” Denise Jones, CEO, Jones & Jones Productions Ltd.

A ‘Fun For The Family’ day of food, music, dance, comedy, and good times, JAMBANA™ is the perfect way to spend your Civic Holiday for only $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. Partial proceeds are being donated to not-for-profit organizations including “Friends of the Poor” and “Helping Hands Jamaica”.

Last year JAMBANA™ built a two bedroom home for Guerrier W. Doucette and his family of six at Jacmel, about an hour from Port au Prince, Haiti. The JAMBANA™ Big Give is expected to continue in 2011.

With seven villages to explore, JAMBANA™ is a one of a kind summer event that keeps patrons coming back for more, year after year. The Children’s Village likens to a carnival with Kisko pops, rides and irresistible fun for kids. Caribbean, Latin and European flavours to tantalise your taste buds in the Food and Craft Village, plus one of a kind works of craft and art, with some pieces boasting the vibe of Jamaica and the Diaspora; and for those in the market for a vacation, the Travel and Trade Village provides a priceless opportunity to give you that head start on your next vacation. In the Domino Village winners of the Lick-A-Six Domino Tournament will be awarded with a trip for two to Jamaica.

Living healthy is the focus of the JAMBANA™ Health Village. In fact, the JAMBANA Health Village provides important information on everything from healthy eating to various types of cancer; Sickle Cell Disease, Glaucoma, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Stroke, HIV AIDS and more. Then, for those looking for that something extra, treat yourself to the exclusive, VIP Village. This popular all-inclusive area provides seating up front, a complimentary meal and a beverage for only $25.

The main stage boasts performances by internationally acclaimed reggae bands plus JUNO award winners, who will be interspersed with the rhythms of jazz and gospel throughout the day. Dance troupes and hilarious comedians provide the very best in entertainment. This yearÂ’s line-up includes: Caribbean King of Comedy OLIVER SAMUELS, Roots Reggae from CULTURE, featuring Kenyatta Hill.

The fantastic four, L.U.S.T, the sizzling SILVERSTARS STEEL BAND, EXCO LEVI, STEELE, JAKKI JAMES, two time JUNO Nominee LYNDON JOHN X, gospel singer JOAN MYERS, a Tribute To Bob Marley by MAJESTIC WARRIORS and 12 year old sensation MICHELLE FRANCIS. BABY BOYZ dancers will raise the heat on the stage with their energized choreography, and the showstopper JAMBANA IDOL features performers from 3 to 12.

The 2011 JAMBANA™ festival will be another phenomenal event.
